Ski Sunday has run on BBC since 1978 with Sam Fonteyn's super theme lasting the distance (with some minor amendments). It was originally a Boosey and Hawkes library track, recorded back in 1970.

Is this the same Sam Fonteyn who did music for Ren & Stimpy, Spongebob Squarepants, Family Guy, plus the Please Sir! theme and the soundtrack for Clear and Present Danger, etc?
Hi Simon - he definitely did Please Sir! early in his career. IMDB suggests that they're one and the same but I'm not 100% sure - Fonteyn is his stage name; he was born Sam Soden.
